Directors: Malcolm Rivers and Jacqueline O. Cooke Rivers
Founders: Jacqueline O. Cooke Rivers and Reverend Eugene C. Rivers
The W. E. B. Du Bois Society is an academic and cultural enrichment program designed to introduce secondary school students to the field of African American studies. Hosted by the Hutchins Center and the Ella J. Baker House in Dorchester, the Du Bois Society provides young people with an opportunity to develop study skills and teamwork as they reflect on readings selected by Harvard professors. Directors Malcolm Rivers and Jacqueline Rivers also regularly consult with program directors from around the country who seek to model their initiatives after the Du Bois Society’s innovative achievement-focused goals.
