Britta Waldschmidt-Nelson is Professor of Transatlantic History and Culture at the History Department of the University of Augsburg.  Dr. Waldschmidt-Nelson’s major research interests are Transatlantic Relations, African American Studies, Gender and Religious History.  

As a fellow, Dr. Waldschmidt-Nelson will be at work on the book-length project A Voice for the Voiceless: Marian Wright Edelman and the Children’s Defense Fund. This is a full scholarly biography of Marian Wright Edelman, focusing on her life and legacy in the context of the Black Civil Rights Movement as well as US child welfare activism.
