Faith Smith is Associate Professor of African and African American Studies and English at Brandeis University. Her teaching and research interests encompass literary and visual histories of the Caribbean and the African Diaspora, with a focus on how narrative, photography and other genres allow us to sense the impact of imperial and postcolonial power on notions of selfhood and sovereignty.

For her fellowship project,  Faith Smith will work on “DreadKin,” a study of Caribbean literary and visual culture’s mapping of sovereignty and kinship over the last decade.
